RPS London Nature Group Visits Barnes Wetlands Centre

Event info

RPS London Region Nature Group will visit the London Wetlands Centre.

Read more about this wonderful space here which  brings the countrysite to London.

Winter is one of the best times to visit this nature reserve because then some of the prettiest wild ducks, such as wigeon, teal and pintail arrive.

Sightings from various hides on 7th January included:

Bittern, Snipe, Jack Snipe, Pintail, Goldeneye, Siskin, Redpoll, Water Pipit, Stonechat, Brambling.

But it's not all about birds. It is a great place for a relaxing walk through the scenic paths, where there are signs of Spring already and the Asian Otters are wonderfully entertaining!

Admission Barnes Wetlands Centre for non-members is £13.40/£11.36 for concessions.  The RPS make no charge for the event.

There is no requirement to pre-book.

You need to enter your car registration number at reception for free parking.  At the time of writing face coverings are required when inside all centre buildings.

Medium telephoto lenses, 100 – 400mm, are suitable for the captive bird and Otter enclosures.  Longer telephoto lenses, i.e. 500mm, are better for the Wildside hides.
