The RPS North Wales Region Committee is organizing a small and very informal event: a visit to two documentary photography exhibitions in Colwyn Bay and Llandudno on Saturday 7th December 2019. The event and exhibition admission is free of charge. What a great way to combine art and culture with the Christmas shopping!
We’ll first visit the “Gap in the Hedge” exhibition by Dan Wood (http://orielcolwyn.org/gap-in-the-hedge/), and the “Dayz out in Porthcawl” exhibition by Ron McCormick (http://orielcolwyn.org/dayz-out/), both on display in Oriel Colwyn in Colwyn Bay.
Paul Sampson, the curator of Oriel Colwyn, will give an introduction to the exhibition.
Time and location: meet at 12:00 (noon) in the foyer of Theatr Colwyn (the gallery is on the first floor of the Theatr Colwyn Building).
Public car parks are nearby (some are pay and display), free short term parking on the main road.
We’ll then drive to Llandudno to visit the “AS IT IS: Man’s footprint on the Welsh landscape” by Magnum photographer David Hurn in the Mostyn Gallery (https://www.mostyn.org/exhibition/it-man%E2%80%99s-footprint-welsh-landscape).
I’ll bring a book along with more documentary seaside photographs by David Hurn, Tony Ray-Jones and others, and we can continue our informal chat and discussion over coffee and cake in the gallery café. We’ll probably finish at about 15:00.
Location: 12 Vaughan Street, Llandudno, LL30 1AB
Important: please let me know via email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you intend to come along, please include your phone number so that I can contact you if necessary.
