Trevor and Faye Yerbury

Event info

This talk will feature a retrospective of the work of Trevor and Faye Yerbury, who are both world renowned for their portraiture and fine art nudes. They are both Fellows of the RPS, and they have had exhibitions of their work in Edinburgh, London, Paris, Vancouver, Madrid, Valetta and Copenhagen, as well as having work featured in many magazines and books.

Trevor is a 4th generation photographer, taking on the family business which was founded by his great-grandfather in Edinburgh in 1864. Trevor was born in 1951 and joined the family business straight from school in 1969. He underwent a 4-year apprenticeship where he experienced working in a daylight studio, using tungsten lighting before studio flash began to take over.

Trevor and Faye’s work is simple while at the same time being extremely elegant, a difficult combination to perfect, but the results show through their classic, sophisticated style. Trevor uses a variety of cameras both film and digital, from a 10×8 large format film camera, a medium format Hasselblad 500c, and more recently the Fuji X-Pro system.

With such a history in photography, it is not surprising that Trevor has a keen interest in vintage printing techniques especially platinum/palladium printing, which he first experimented with back in the mid-80’s.

Faye, having been a lecturer in Hairstyling and Make-up for a few years moved towards a photographic career after meeting Trevor in 1978. Under Trevor’s wing, Faye became established and well respected in the profession as both a photographer and stylist.

During the years that followed there were many, many awards for portraiture, wedding and avant-garde work, not forgetting her classical nudes. Faye is also an international speaker and judge and a regular contributor to magazines. She has spent some time now printing her classical nude images on to beautiful art paper using the Platinum/ Palladium medium. With Trevor in 2017, they produced their first Limited Edition book called 'NUDES'.
