Night Sky Photography at Herstmonceux Observatory

This highly informative workshop with John Fox will give an introduction to imaging the night sky and the Milky Way using a normal camera (any sort) and tripod.
There will be sections detailing camera setup, the basics of imaging the night sky and the Milky Way. Using a small tracker to further improve your photographs along with processing your images. John will introduce you to the fascinating world of night sky time lapse photography. Further sections will cover painting with light, at night,imaging the moon with a telescope and shooting landscapes by moonlight.
John Fox regularly contributes to the open evenings held at the Observatory Science Centre as a STEM Ambassador and can be found on the lawns imaging the night sky and talking to visitors.
The workshop price includes entry into the Observatory. Doors open at 10:00am for registration. The workshop runs from 10.30 until 4.30pm with a one-hour break for lunch. There is a cafe on the ground floor at the centre where delegates can purchase sandwiches and hot or cold refreshments or you can bring your own food and enjoy a picnic on the lawns.
Advanced booking for this event is essential as admission is by ticket only and limited to 20 participants.
Tickets cost £65 for RPS members and £80 for non-members.

Important Location Information
If you use the estate postcode in your GPS you will probably be directed to a CLOSED entrance of the Herstmonceux Castle Estate resulting in a 15 minute re-route.
The correct OPEN entrance is from Wartling Road at its junction with Halley Road (private road within the estate). The Co-ordinates for this junction are: 50.868585, 0.348961
