Street Portrait Photography workshop with Sukhy Hullait

If you want to learn about taking portraits of strangers or how to shoot portraits in natural light then this is for you.

Sukhy Hullait will be leading this hands-on workshop and show you how to approach people to take their permissive portrait in a street environment.

Sukhy is a documentary photographer and his work has been featured in print, online and has been exhibited in the UK and Europe. He is currently working on a project regarding young carers which will be published later this year.  http://sukhyhullait.com/

The meeting place will be outside Brighton Railway station at around 10.30am. (Exact time and place will be advised by email closer to the date.)

The first stop will be a cafe for introductions and an overview of street portraiture. You will then move to the first location where Sukhy will lead a series of exercises covering how to overcome your fears and successfully approach a stranger, developing rapport and how to produce a meaningful portrait.

For this type of portraiture any type of camera is suitable, but small is good and also light as you will be out and about for the day. You will be close to your subject so you won’t need a lens bigger than around 70 mm. Tripods are definitely not necessary.

Wear appropriate clothes for the day, and a waterproof is also useful.

Drinks will be available to buy in local cafes during the day, and there will also be a break to buy lunch.

This workshop is limited to 8 persons only so early booking is advised. There is a similar workshop in Faversham on Saturday 12/9/20
