The Royal Photographic Society Photography Roadshow is coming to South Wales! We will be in the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff, on Saturday 20th June, 2020.
Our roadshows display some of the best images from around the world and bring them closer to you. RPS Distinctions take you on a personal journey, exploring not just technical competence but how you want to develop as a photographer, how others react to your work, and what you want to say as an artist. Photography has a purpose, and that is to explain, challenge, inspire and tell stories.
The RPS aims are to educate members of the public, promote the highest standards of photography, and encourage public appreciation of photography. There is no better way of doing this than coming along to one of our roadshows. You will see images in various genres, including Travel, Fine Art, Contemporary, Documentary, Landscape, Natural History and Applied. The day will be led by Peter Hayes FRPS, Chair of the Distinctions Committee.
You will also be able to hear from successful applicants, who will talk about their Distinctions journey. On hand will be Esmé Lloyd LRPS who achieved her Licentiate when she was just 15; Sarah Dow ARPS who used her Associate journey to help her come to terms with a series of traumatic events, and Ria Mishaal FRPS, who submitted an unusual Fellowship panel of portraits featuring children with their favourite animals. But it has a twist…….
On the day you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have about applying for a Distinction with the RPS. We will explain:
- What our assessors are looking for
- What you need to do
- What to avoid
- How you can join the thousands who have gained a distinction with the Society
We very much look forward to seeing you.
