Field trip to Topsham

Saturday 22nd August 1430 - 20.30

Meet at Holman Way Car Park EX3 0EN

We will initially head for Bowling Green Marsh, and taking a leisurely stroll down the lane taking in views over the river towards the bird hide. A stop at the hide for those that wish to bring long lenses, it can get quite crowded but we can look. Walking further down the lane a short detour to a viewing area over the river, again perhaps an opportunity to see some bird life, but definitely views towards Exmouth.

From there, we walk towards the river and along the sea wall, again photographic opportunities over the river, and onward towards the quay at Topsham, maybe a stop on the way for tea at a small cafe which hopefully will be open.

When we reach the quay there are many photographic opportunities, boats, the quay itself, street photography or take in the old warehouse on the quay, 4 floors of antiques and a selection of what in some eyes may be rubbish for sale. A walk further up the river gives more opportunities for photographs and then perhaps a trip to The Lighter Inn on the quay for refreshment liquid and food. Depending on time, we may be able to do some evening photography over the river, or go into the town of Topsham to have a look round.

It may well be quite busy as it is in the holiday period but certainly the first part of the walk will not be overcrowded.

An opportunity to try many different types of photography, bring camera, lenses, long telephoto and short zooms, tripod if staying for some evening shots. A strong pair of shoes is advised, it is all level walking, but some uneven ground perhaps, but nothing too strenuous.
