Mark Pain is a multi-award-winning sports photographer with over 25 years’ experience and international recognition. The major events he has covered worldwide include Olympic Games, Ryder Cup, football and rugby World Cups and World Championship athletics. Mark has worked at the top of his profession for many years and was Chief Sports Photographer of the Mail on Sunday for over twenty years.
Throughout this time, Mark has won many competitions and been highly commended on numerous occasions. These include as a sports finalist in the World Press Photo 1998; Sports Photographer of the Year in 2005 and 2011 at the British Press Awards; in 2012 he was named as the British Airways Olympic Photographer of The Year at the prestigious UK Guild of Picture Editors Awards.
In 2011 Mark successfully launched the first dedicated Sports Photography School in the UK, and in 2013 became a Nikon UK Ambassador
In this talk Mark will not only be showing us some of his stunning images across a wide range sports, but will also be telling us the story behind the photograph, including elements of planning, equipment, skills and execution.
If sports are not your thing, do not be put off; many of the skills and techniques necessary for good sports photography are equally applicable in other photographic genres.
