Ian Beesley is an award-winning and internationally acclaimed artist and photographer. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently at Milan Photo Festival Italy, the International Industrial Photography Festival Shengyang China, The National Media Museum Bradford and the Peoples History Museum Manchester.
His work is held in collections at the National Media Museum Bradford, The Royal Photographic Society, The Smithsonian Institute Washington, and the National Museum of Labour Helsinki, amongst many other important national collections.
With a repertoire of no less than twenty-five published books.
In 2012 Ian was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society.
In 2019 he received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bradford for his significant contribution to the cultural and social development of the City of Bradford.
He is currently artist in residence for the Bradford Institute for health research, Gallery Oldham and Yorkshire Water.
From Salt to Silver – Salts Mill 2017 Ian worked closely with Barnsley poet Ian McMillan in producing the book, Ian’s images and words by Ian McMillan.
Depicting the Mills and workers of the1960s, fast forward twenty years and walking through the mill gates to see the last days of production, documenting the demise of the textile industry here.
Ian is currently working on his career retrospective exhibition with Salts Mill scheduled proposed for 2021.
