Many of us process our images using plug in filters.  The most common of these is the NIK Filter Collection. These sessions will provide you with an introduction to all of the filters and show the best way to use them in an editable way and the use of multiple filters. The Collections is a set of eight Plug-ins that can be accessed from within Adobe PS or LR.  Nik Collection can also be used as a set of stand-alone modules to enable use

Introduction of NIK Collection

The Collection is infinitely adjustable to enable the user to achieve the result they are seeking.  All modules all have U Point Technology which allow precise local adjustments for contrast, brightness, colour, sharpness etc.  This technology is the key to NIK Collections reputation of achieving quick and easy edits.  There are a high number of pre-sets within the suite, which are all adjustable, to give the user a starting point.

Nik Viveza

The basic module in the Collection is also one of the most powerful.  Viveza allows adjustment of colour, tone, highlights, shadows and contrast.  It works selectively with U point technology and has a powerful colour balance feature.

Nik Dfine

This allows the removal of noise created by your camera sensor with the ability to retain detail and enabling you to maintain quality of the image.  The image is profiled, and a de noise algorithm applied with minimal effort.  U point technology gives an added layer of controllability.  In addition, noise can be controlled by contrast and colour in selective parts of the image.

Nik Sharpener

The sharpener can be used for multiple outputs such as high-quality printing, high-resolution projection or display.  Sharpening is two stage with the first being RAW Pre- Sharpener.  This creates the correct level detail from the RAW file data.  The second stage is Output Sharpening which is used to apply the final sharpening to an image.  This may be for high resolution projection, web display, high quality printing or lab printing.  Sharpening can be targeted too to give perfect results.

NIK Color Efex

This module comes with a comprehensive set of filters providing “shortcuts” to lengthy post processing effects.  Aimed at editing colour, contrast, tone and more; the suite allows filters, which are infinitely adjustable with six unique modes, to be applied so users create their own effect.  In addition, these filters can be applied in multiples and built into recipes which are editable and themselves can be used in multiples.  Along with a comprehensive history menu the suite offers a limitless amount of creativity.

Nik Silver Efex

The controls in this module were inspired by the darkroom.  The module is ideal for expert as well as those producing Monochrome for the very first time.  The menu offers sophistication in the approach to processing a monochrome image and comes with a range of filters to emulate the feel of classis film as well is a range of colour filters, frames and finishes.

Nik Analogue Efex

Take your digital images back in time to produce images with that vintage feel.  The module has a full range of looks from past time cameras, lenses and film.  It offers endless creative possibilities and can add realistic scratches, light leaks and more.  There is also the facility to build your own recipes which can be applied to multiple images.  It has the facility to make basic detail, brightness, contrast and saturation adjustments and is fully selective making use of U point technology.
