Developing Documentary Projects

Plans to develop new workshop for documentary photographers

Documentary projects - Over the next few months the Documentary Groups plans to develop a series of workshops specifically for documentary - covering conception to completion.

The aim is to work with experienced documentary photographers in the RPS and outside, to develop a short series of workshops focussed on the entire life-cycle of a project, covering:

Intent - What is it? Why do it? Who is it for? What is the story?

Doing Research  - What has been done before? Identifying subjects, locations and sources

Planning - the plan will change, but you still need a plan

Developing the project - shooting with narrative in mind, keeping notes, exploring new avenues, staying on track, finishing...

The Edit - sequencing for engagement and impact, going the narrative.

Getting it out there  - publishing, showing, publicising
