Close to Home: Solitude by Fiona Maccowan FRPS
"As the years pass the more I find myself content to enjoy the pleasure of my own flawed company" Kathe Palke.
In the morning I walk in the fields and woods surrounding our home. I walk about five kilometres and treasure this period of solitude before the day properly begins. One of my favourite walks is to a local ancient woodland which lies in a magical almost hidden valley. Running through the wood is a brook, one of the features of the reserve and my favourite spot. I love the wood in all seasons but particularly in springtime when the entire wood is vibrant and alive with the promise of the new season and new beginnings.
