Close to Home: Crichope Burn by Kirsten Bax LRPS

I live in rural Dumfries and Galloway in south west Scotland. My home is in Nithdale which predominately lies on sandstone. Less than a mile from my house there is a scenic sandstone gorge which I have walked through and taken people to visit for about 30 years, so I know it well. In fact the gorge is part of an ongoing photographic project of mine, started during lockdown.

Considering what would make a suitable subject for Close to Home I decided, while the gorge itself didn’t change much over the year, that there were places by the water above and below it which could have sufficient seasonal changes to make them interesting and suitable. So I decided to focus on the spots depicted and revisited them once a month for the year. Then I selected the pictures which best show the changing seasons to submit for Close to Home.
