We met at 10 am at RSPB Lakenheath and spent some time in the area around the car park where the Dragonflies and Damselflies were still warming up under the trees. The day rapidly warmed up and by lunchtime the temperature was approaching 30 degrees. This definitely reduced the number of both birds and insects that we saw but the Spiders seemed to revel in the heat and we watched many attempts by male spiders of both Araneus marmoreus and Araneus diadematus attempting to mate with females - one definitely successfully and one attempt ended in the male getting killed.
