Long-term RPS Volunteer Janet Barton died unexpectedly after a short illness, on 20 February 2021.
She was a committee member of Digital Imaging Thames Valley for the best part of 12 years, and was soon to be awarded her Gold Volunteer Recognition. She served DI Thames Valley as Treasurer for two years and Programme Secretary for six years. She was a very active member at the monthly events, welcoming everyone to the Wokingham venue with a warm and friendly greeting, ensuring that there was a continuous supply of tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day, and helping wherever she was needed. She hosted most of their Committee Meetings (pre-Covid), and delighted the committee with her superb home baking! She was also a member of Windlesham & Camberley Camera Club, where she was also Programme Secretary over many years. At the beginning of 2021, she moved to become a member of the organising group for RPS Thames Valley, along with the rest of the ex-DI Thames Valley team.
Janet had a wide knowledge and love of everything photographic, which was reflected in the wide variety of speakers she had arranged over her years as Programme Secretary.
She will be sorely missed. Our condolences go to her husband and family at this very sad time.
