Paris Hanging Plan

Dawn Black ARPS

Statement of Intent

This Pictorial Panel was submitted for an Associate Distinction in October 2016

"Melanacholy"
I have always found cemeteries to be affecting; they truly impact my mood, making me contemplative and withdrawn. Pére LaChaise Cemetery in Paris is one such place. Meandering through the seemingly endless rows and sections of monuments, I am always instinctively drawn towards the angels and lamenting figures adorning the graves. The mourning, emotional sculptures really speak to me as I feel an affinity with the sadness being portrayed, echoing my own sadness after a difficult few years in my personal life.
