The Royal Photographic Society (formed in 1853) and the British Institute of Professional Photography (formed in 1901) have agreed a proposal for the BIPP to join the RPS as a wholly-owned subsidiary. The Proposal explains some of the detail of the proposal which will increase RPS membership and be cash positive for both organisations, while ensuring the BIPP remains a separate and unique legal entity with its own brand and identity.
Prior to publication of the Prospectus (5 December 2022), the RPS President Simon Hill FBIPP HonFRPS made a short video presentation to BIPP members (24 November 2022) which you can view below. In the presentation, Simon explains more about how the proposal might be accomplished and the benefits it could bring to the RPS, to the BIPP and to the professional photography sector.
There is still work to do on the fine detail but the RPS-BIPP Working Group and RPS professional advisers are moving this forward.
This page will be updated as work progresses.
