Eileen Perrier is an artist of Ghanaian and Dominican heritage, specialising in portrait and documentary photography that captures lived experiences. Since the 1990s, she has worked both in the UK and internationally.
Her work has been widely exhibited, including at The Photographers' Gallery, Tate Britain, The Whitechapel Gallery, Hayward Gallery, and the France’s Centre Pompidou. She has participated in major group exhibitions, including Africa Remix, an international showcase of contemporary African art that toured from 2004 to 2007 with venues including the Hayward Gallery, Centre Pompidou, and Mori Art Museum, and The Missing Thread: Untold Stories of Black British Fashion at Somerset House, exploring the influence of Black British culture on fashion.
In 2025, Autograph presented her first solo retrospective, A Thousand Small Stories, bringing together three decades of her photographic work. The exhibition featured a recently commissioned series for The Face magazine, When am I gonna stop being wise beyond my years?, addressing the challenges faced by teenage girls in the digital age.
Perrier’s works are held in major public and private collections, including Arts Council England, Autograph, Foundling Museum, Light Work, Angola’s Sindika Dokolo Foundation, Tate, and the Wedge Collection in Canada.
Living and working in London, Perrier holds a BA (Hons) in Photography from the Surrey Institute of Art & Design (now University for the Creative Arts, Farnham) and an MA in Fine Art Photography from the Royal College of Art. Alongside her artistic practice, she has worked in higher education for two decades and is currently an Associate Lecturer of photography at the University for the Creative Arts – London College of Communication.
