Learn the Secrets of Car Studio Photography James Mann FRPS

This workshop offers a rare opportunity to experience the usually unseen side of studio car photography.

The subject for the workshop is the latest Toyota Supra 3.0L Pro, an exciting Japanese supercar.

During the workshop you will learn how to light a car in an infinity cove studio using constant, movie type lighting and to understand how many of the top end car photo shoots happen for magazines and books.

No prior knowledge is necessary but you should have a good working knowledge of how to use your camera.

About the Tutor:

James Mann is one of the world’s leading editorial car photographers and authors with more than 30 years experience shooting for automotive publications, the motor industry and commerce all over the world. His work has appeared within and on the covers of more than 65 books including the award winning ‘Art of the Formula One race car’ and James has provided stunning visuals for numerous magazines including Classic and Sports Car,Top Gear, F1 Racing, Autocar, Motorsport, and Automobile magazine as well as many others. He wrote the original and best selling ‘How to Photograph cars’ in 2002 publishing a new edition in 2016 and was chosen to photograph the cars for the ‘British Auto Legends’ set of stamps for the Royal Mail. James became a Fellow of the RPS in 2017.

He lives in Dorset with his wife and two children.

What to bring:

A DLSR camera and tripod with a range of standard or zoom lenses.

The studio is close to lots of local amenities for lunch or you can bring your own.

The event will take place at the Plough Studios

The studio is 5 mins down the hill from Clapham Common tube (Northern Line)

Please inform us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a course as it is not possible to refund any cancellation or transfer to another workshop less than 14 days prior to course start date. The Society reserves the right to cancel a workshop 7 days prior to its start date - please check your hotel and travel cancellation policy as this may be affected.

If you are attending one of our workshops that involves a trip out, please ensure you bring all weather clothing and protection for your camera. Persons under the age of 16 are welcome to attend events but, to conform with UK law, must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult.
