RPS Pelt Calendar, 18 & 19 September 2021
It has been a long time, but finally, an event not from behind your laptop, but out there in the real world. It has been quite the challenge organising this one. Due to the pandemic nothing was for sure for a long time. Even today, we still have some final details to be sorted. However, we are very excited to be able, finally, to share the outline of our two day event in Pelt, Belgium, later this year.
This event is all about the Photography Festival in Pelt (see
https://fotofestivalpelt.be/en/). The RPS Benelux is one of their partners. We have participated in the judging of the main exhibition (Carol Olerud) and various of our members have submitted work that will be on display on the streets around Pelt. Our Chapter has its own annual exhibition at Pelt, as well, with work from many of our members.
Janet Haines ARPS will be present in her formal role as Trustee of the RPS, as well.
The program is split over two days. Saturday 18th September is aimed at providing our members with a workshop on street/documentary photography. Followed by putting that all into practice in Pelt whilst roaming the streets. We will come back together towards the end of the afternoon and have a look at the results!
In the evening we will arrange for a nice place to have a drink and a meal.
Sunday 19th September will be kicked off by the Pelt organisation with an award ceremony. It will be interesting to see if any of our members will be making it to the podium. We will spend the afternoon talking about the RPS and giving the general public an idea about what you can expect when you become a member. We have some very interesting guests lined up, including our own Janet and Armando. And a very interesting Belgian guest speaker, Carl De Keyzer (https://www.carldekeyzer.com, to be confirmed).
A number of the Sunday sessions will be held in Dutch. This will be promoted by the Pelt organisation to the Belgian public at large. At the end we will organise public portfolio reviews. The idea is to give members of the public an idea of what to expect from our Chapters meetings. More details will follow (for signing up).
On Friday 4th of June, a team of 4-5 of our members will be heading over to Pelt to help set up the display of our annual exhibition. This is also the first time we can do a bit of reconnaissance in Pelt (e.g. selecting a restaurant).
A couple of practical details. At present the cost of participating in this two day event is very low. So far most of our costs are covered by sponsors. We might have to ask for a small fee to cover some of the remaining costs.
You do have to make your own way to Pelt and make your overnight arrangements. We will arrange for coordination between the various members who will be attending. We should have enough cars and seats to get everybody to and from Pelt.
If you would like to attend, please drop us an email (email@example.com), stating which day(s) you would like to attend.
Looking forward to seeing many of you, face to face, in Pelt!
