House of God
When people say that Antwerp’s Cathedral is stunning, they are not exaggerating. It really is one of the masterpieces of Gothic architecture.
In addition to being a historical monument, this Cathedral, however, is first and foremost the House of God and an abode of the people.
Domus Dei et Porta Coeli
For centuries, every Roman Catholic church has featured this Latin inscription above its entrance, which means
‘House of God and Door to Heaven’. Every day, we strive to give a more contemporary interpretation to this mission in our Cathedral.
Learn more about the surprising array of initiatives for people from all kinds of backgrounds.
