Nature's Year054

Rye Meads Hertfordshire

Event info

This delightful wetland reserve beside the River Lee is a firm favourite with  birdwatchers and photographers thanks to its many trails and hides. Snipe, green sandpipers, shovelers, gadwalls and tufted ducks are resident during the winter months. It has a reputation as a site for photographing Kingfishers from a well-located hide overlooking a large pond and artificial nesting bank. Although not as guaranteed as in the breeding period, there should be a good chance of spotting kingfishers there.
