Raymond Departon

London Bookworms November Meeting

Event info

Tonight, Helen Wolstonecraft will introduce the work of Raymond Depardon

Raymond Depardon (born 1942) is a well-known photographer in France, particularly for his photography and film making in war zones, mainly in Africa, places such as Algeria and Chad, as well as Vietnam.  In 1980 he was commissioned by The Sunday Times Magazine to take photographs in Glasgow for a feature on its rich and poor.  The photographs he took were never published.  However, over three decades later an exhibition of Depardon’s Glasgow work featured in an exhibition in Glasgow and a book was published in 2016.  Helen will talk about the Glasgow photographs contained in this book.
