Highland Folk Museum - Loch An Eilan

The Highland Folk Museum is located on the A86 just North of Newtonmore and is easy to find. The museum has a collection of buildings that represent life in the Highlands during the early 1700's and in the period around the 1930's. Fans of the TV "Outlander" series will be interested to know that some of the filming of the show took place at the Black House Village within the museum complex. The grounds are extensive with well maintained pathways through woodland areas. It is also proposed to visit the near bye Loch An Eilan and maybe Ruthven Barracks but we suspect there will be so much of photographic interest at the museum that those attending may opt to stay. The complex opens at 1030 in September therefore we propose to meet in the car park at 1000. There are refreshment and toilet facilities on site.
