Jonathan Vaines
Event info
Jonathan is a Creative Photographer based in Bedfordshire. Never owning a film camera and taking his first digital image in 2012. He aims not to document anything but to give it a false yet appealing look. His early mentor was Ann Miles who taught him that everything can be photographed. He works primarily within projects producing sets of images on styles and themes. His work is award winning and is a winner of the prestigious London Salon Medal. He talks and judges at more than eighty clubs each year, runs creative workshops, teaches Photoshop for the RPS Digital Imagining Group as well as organisations in North America and beyond. He now regards himself as an artist using photography as a medium and that working on one’s ability to imagine is as important as photographic skills. He is a sponsored lecturer of Permajet and affiliated with WEX Photo and Video, DxO Labs, Jessops, Q-Image & Cartridge Monkey.
The little print show: this talk comes with an artistic approach to photography, stepping out of not just camera club mainstream but photography with a unique view. Along with individual images we see motivational benefits of working with Projects, Sets and Groups of images. Most of the images in this talk are created using "in camera" techniques such as Multiple Exposure. The focus of the talk is about "Thinking Inside The Box". It is primarily a print talk but presented via PowerPoint with 60 prints to display.
Me, Myself & Eye: this talk follows on from The Little Print Show. Jonathan will explain the meaning behind some individual images and sets. He will explain his thought process, what motivates him, why he works like this and what benefits gains from working in a creative environment every day. You will discover how images are conceived, how the idea grows to the shooting and then final production to print of his artistic work. In this talk we see the latest work including much of his abstracts or wall art as he prefers to call it. See https://blueroomphoto.site123.me/
