We are delighted to congratulate IPE Award recipient Yuxing Chen for her series The Oriental Scene and the Under 30s Award is presented to Juno Seunghui Joo for her series What a death made us do. Both photographers have been awarded the highest accolades this year.

IPE Award

Yuxing Chen is a photographer and visual artist based between London and Shanghai. Her photographic practice is centred around the creation and discussion of decolonisation of cultural differences and identity issues. She received her master's degree in MA Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the London College of Communication.
On receiving the IPE award Yuxing Chen said:
"I feel highly honoured and deeply grateful to have been awarded the International Photography Exhibition Award. Also, I am grateful for the support and recognition from the RPS, which means so much to the project and myself. I am incredibly excited that a wider audience sees the pagoda and other oriental constructions."
The selection panel awarded Yuxing Chen series The Oriental Scene a that investigates Chinoiserie architecture in the UK in the context of de-colonialism.



Under 30s Award

Juno Seunghui Joo has been awarded the Under 30s IPE Award for her series What a death made us do.
Juno Seunghui Joo is a South Korean photographer who works in London, UK. Juno explores various issues surrounding humanity through tableau photography. These may include relationships, communication, traditions, and cultural heritage. Her work is eclectic in its subject matter, ranging from very fundamental human problems to highly personal matters. Juno's work is characterised by the use of various mise-en-scènes and metaphors, creating a cinematic storytelling structure.
On receiving the Under 30s IPE Award Juno Seunghui Joo said:
" It is a great honour or for me to be one of the winners exhibiting at RPS. Being recognised by such a renowned organisation is such a privilege and a reassurance to me and my work.”
