DPOTY 2021

Documentary Photographer of the Year Competition 2021 - Opens: 6 May 2021

The Documentary Photographer of the Year (DPOTY) competition is organised by the Royal Photographic Society's Documentary Group. It runs every two years. The competition has been running since 2012 and provides an opportunity to showcase documentary work and storytelling.  There is no theme or topic, so the choice of subject matter is yours. 

In 2021 the competition is expanding and will have Open, Student and Member categories.

Entry

The 2021 Competition has three Categories:

Open - open to anyone anywhere

Student - for anyone on a recognised full-time or part-time photography degree course

Member - for members of the RPS

The Competition will open for entries on 6 May 2021 and close on 5 August 2021.

Competition and Entry Rules will be provided shortly. 

Judges

For 2021 we have a world-class, diverse and global panel of judges. Details to follow.

 

Exhibitions and Talks

Along with the competition itself, there are planned Engagement Talks which are free and bookable via our Events page. Our opening talk is by Alys Tomlinson

The Competition Winners and Commended entries will be part of a Touring Exhibition (to be announced later)

Prizes and benefits

Details of prizes and benefits will be published shortly. They will include an opportunity for a touring Exhibition, online Talks and publication in the Decisive Moment and the RPS Journal. There will also be category prizes.
