About my book : Im Dialog
My Photo Book was already printed when I applied for the distinction. I knew it was important to do a one2one session. This was extremely helpful for me in order to clarify the Statement of Intent by telling more about my feelings, my motivation and the reasons for creating the book, but not describing here how I did it. I also got important feedback to my English as it is not my first language. The descriptions can be formulated in the Supporting Evidence, another important document. Here I have included information about the photographs, some of which relates to local cultural information and some to photographic techniques.* The texts in the book are written in German, so I have added an English translation.

*For example the hyperopical picture on page 30: Information about this technique (over infinity focussing according to Hiroshi Sugimoto) was crucial.

Statement of Intent:
„My grandfather's photo collection from the early 20th century recently came to light. In an emotional process, I sifted through all these fantastic images and selected the best ones to digitise. It was an incredible ongoing posthumous dialogue with my grandfather and I decided to use this material for a major photographic project that would result in an exhibition and a corresponding photo book. The predominant presence of stereo photos demanded an illustration of the dialogue in the form of diptychs that combine his photographs with photographs of mine from the last 50 years, creating new resonances, reflections on time, narrative links or humorous comment. Some are citations, others political comments. All combine views from two centuries. My intent (and fun!) was the creation of the diptychs but also to increase interest in my grandfather's work.“
