Walter Benzie who has died aged 75 years was the 63rd President of The Society and served in this capacity 2015-2017. He started as a Trustee in 2009, holding the office of Treasurer for the first 4 years. He was also a member of the Licentiate distinctions panel.
We heard on the 15th January that Walter had died after a long illness. We met up on a number of occasions during his Presidency when we both attended RPS events. He is seen here on the left being greeted by his immediate predecessor as President Derek Birch ASIS Hon FRPS (right).
We were never on Council together as he stepped down at the AGM when I arrived. Although he was already severely ill at the time he took the trouble to write to me when I became President offering me his full support. It is that generosity of spirit that will be my memory of Walter.
The March 2020 RPS Journal will carry a fuller obituary.
