Barrie Foster LRPS, an RPS member for over ten years, has published a book of his photographs to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
‘The Joy of Trees’, a collection of images taken in woodlands across England, is a celebration of the great outdoors. Having spent his career documenting some of the world’s most remote landscapes, the book is dedicated to the places where Barrie feels his happiest, and a reminder of the incredible benefits of spending time in nature. The book includes a foreword by Barrie's long-time friend, Ray Mears.
Barry was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and he hopes ‘The Joy of Trees’ brings some calm and inspiration to those who read it.
"My working life has been spent looking through a viewfinder, first as a RAF photographer and then as a BBC cameraman. However, taking my own photographs is what gives me the greatest satisfaction. That moment when you think you’ve captured a timeless image still gives me enormous joy and satisfaction. The Joy of Trees is a selection of my own photographs of trees, I hope they encourage you to take a walk in the woods."
