The International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY), continues to be one of the world's most respected photography competitions and touring exhibitions.
From the winners of various categories, a photographer is selected for the overall award of International Garden Photographer of the year.
The RPS would like to celebrate the work of this years winner June Sharpe ARPS as-well-as Annaick Guitteny, who was awarded the gold medal in the Portfolios category, which is run as a stand-alone competition in association with The Royal Photographic Society.
Now, more than ever, it is vitally important to connect with nature and highlight the beauty and fragility of our planet’s ecosystems.

The layered branches of this conifer reminded me of the dancing cranes often featured in Japanese woodcuts. In post-processing, I added a fill layer and used exclusion blending mode to alter the colours and enhance the feeling of movement and sense of the ‘birds’ dancing in a fantasy woodland.
June will receive £4,000 and the overall winning photo will feature at the IGPOTY 17 exhibition at Kew Gardens, 03 February - 10 March 2024.
Being awarded the title of overall Winner is an enormous and totally unexpected privilege

This portfolio presents a series of close-ups of plants, covered in water droplets. I love capturing these fleeting moments early in the morning, when these ephemeral little pearls adorn plants and illuminate them.
Specimens photographed include; Alchemilla mollis, Pennisetum, Nigella damascena, Pennisetum villosum, Hosta, and Tragopogon crocifolius.
Annaick will receive £1,000 and an RPS Gold Medal.
2nd and 3rd place were awarded to Elizabeth Kazda and Cristina Wanjura
This portfolio stood out for me because of its elegance and restraint. The delicacy of the droplet-laden stems and leaves contrasted beautifully with the negative space.
