Book Arts – Stab Binding with Lynne Connolly

The Stab Binding, often known as Japanese Stab Binding, dates back to the 2nd century in Japan, Korea, and China. In this short workshop you will make an A5 stab-bound photo book using simple materials such as paper, card, and/or photographs, while exploring the strengths, limitations, and creative possibilities of this structure, including variations in covers, stitching, and single- or double-sided formats.

Photo Album with Coptic Stitch with Lynne Connolly

This workshop focuses on creating an A5 album using the traditional Coptic stitch method, a centuries-old technique that leaves the spine exposed for a flat, fully open layout. Night & Low Light Photography with Tony Worobiec

This workshop is designed to encourage the participant to consider taking photographs once daylight has disappeared. Initially this presentation considers how to best to deal with lighting pre-dawn, after dusk and at night-time, but then deals with a variety of interesting and challenging lighting conditions. We will discuss usual and less usual methods for illuminated the subject using flash, hand-torches and a variety of other methods, painting with light is another subject we will aim to cover. Students will be encouraged to adopt a personal project which could result in a future distinctions application.
