The Royal Photographic Society is delighted to be touring Process (2015 - Present) by Adama Jalloh at the Royal Albert Hall, London
12 - 28 November 2025
Adama Jalloh’s work was first exhibited with the RPS in 2021, as part of the Bristol Photo Festival. IN PROGRESS, commissioned by The Royal Photographic Society and curated by Aaron Schuman, presented a collection of solo shows by five photo-based artists; Adama Jalloh, Laia Abril, Hoda Afshar, Widline Cadet and Alba Zari. Featuring new works alongside work-in-progress, this exhibition explored personal history, cultural identity, nationality, community, morality, and memory.
Process (2015-Present) is a diverse selection of photographs made by Adama Jalloh over the last 10 years, combining images from personal projects with those created for editorial and commercial purposes. By reflecting on her creative output as a whole, the connections and parallels between Jalloh’s personal and commissioned work are exposed, demonstrating how various aspects of her practice relate to and inform one another.
Jalloh was born, raised and lives in London, and her relationship with the city and Black communities is a focus throughout her work. Jalloh began documenting individuals simply going about their daily lives, some in transit, while others in stillness. Her work pays attention to how identity is retained and passed on through cultural traditions, symbols and values. The images she has made have also been a way to identify and connect with what ‘Home’ is to herself and others, whether that’s through people, objects or spaces seen within the images.
Jalloh’s commitment to documenting Black communities and their environments serves to preserve and celebrate all that they contribute to the life of the city.
Visitors to the Royal Albert Hall events and tours will be able to enjoy the exhibition throughout November. The RPS is delighted that there will be an open day on 22 November for all to enjoy and Adama Jalloh will talk about her work.
