INTRODUCTION:
On 15 November 2025, the RPS Germany Chapter turned a Würzburg studio into a lively playground of light, creativity, and good-natured fun. Under the banner Minimalism in Portrait Photography, members gathered for a full day of learning — and just as importantly — laughing, experimenting, and stepping in front of the camera as often as behind it. What began as a structured workshop quickly grew into a warm, collaborative gathering where minimalism met maximum enjoyment.
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW:
Hosted by chapter member Christian Weiss, the workshop ran from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and welcomed photographers with varying levels of studio experience. After a relaxed dinner the evening before, participants arrived energised, curious, and ready to turn theory into creative action. Throughout the day, short theoretical inputs alternated with hands-on exercises, all focused on showing how one light, one subject, and one idea can be more than enough for expressive portraiture.
KEY ACTIVITIES & HIGHLIGHTS:
The workshop blended technical insight with the joyful unpredictability that only a live portrait session can deliver.
CONCLUSION:
The 2025 Würzburg workshop demonstrated a simple yet powerful truth: minimalism doesn’t limit creativity — it unlocks it.
By removing unnecessary complexity, participants were able to connect more directly with their light, their subjects, and each other. The shared laughter, the willingness to volunteer as models, and the supportive critique atmosphere made this workshop not just educational but truly memorable.
For the RPS Germany Chapter, it was another strong step in building a vibrant community where photographers learn, experiment, and grow together — one light at a time.
