The portrait as a genre has dominated photography from the daguerreotypes of the 19th century to the selfies of the present day. Which ideas and clichés dominate portrait photography today? By introducing different approaches, Swiss members of the Royal Photographic Society will present their works. Afterwards the participants of the Prix Photoforum 2022 will discuss their approach to photography in a round table talk.
Central to the debate will be questions of representation, experimentation with different media and collaborative image practices.
