We recently held an “in conversation” with the team behind the 2024 photobook “Home” – if you want to take a look it’s available in our YouTube recordings here https://rps.org/groups/contemporary/contemporary-youtube/
The book contains the work of Alex Wesche, Mali Davies and Mick Houghton who were asked in the summer of 2023 to make 20 images, over a 3-month period, taken within 1 mile from their home locations. The idea was to spotlight areas folk normally would just pass by and have a focus on the natural environment. The images are supported by very personal words from author Jeff Young (a Liverpool based lecturer and writer for screen, stage and radio), whose poignant words will resound with everyone. The foreword in the book is written by the novelist, screenwriter and Children’s Laureate, Frank Cottrell-Boyce.
The editors of the book are John Ash and Paul Gotts (https://www.instagram.com/john_ash_photo and https://www.instagram.com/paul_gotts) who run “Making a Photobook” where they invite photographers to take part in book making projects for charitable causes. Keep an eye on their website for news on current and upcoming projects https://makingaphotobook.co.uk/#books
The book is being sold in aid of the Paper Cup Project, a Liverpool based charity which supports local rough sleepers and homeless people, see https://papercupproject.org/about-us and https://homephotobook.co.uk/. The book has now sold out, but we have a few spreads to share AW, MD and MH.
We are very pleased to note that the RPS Contemporary Group got a mention in the book. Thanks for everyone in the group supporting.
