Adama Jalloh: Process (2014 – ongoing)

On Wednesday evening I had the privilege of attending the private view of Process (2014-Present), an exhibition by Adama Jalloh at the Saatchi Gallery, London.

Adama is a documentary and portrait photographer whose work has appeared in leading publications including Vogue, GQ, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Esquire and the Financial Times.

Her achievements include the British Journal of Photography Breakthrough Awards, the New Wave: Creatives award at The Fashion Awards in partnership with Swarovski, and The Photographers' Gallery New Talent exhibition and mentoring award. She has exhibited internationally in the UK, USA, Mali and Sierra Leone, and has two portraits in the National Portrait Gallery.

Adama's documentary practice focuses on communities and the environments they inhabit, exploring themes of race, identity and culture. She has created an ongoing visual archive of London, documenting both the city and the social changes that continue to shape it.

The exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery presents a selection of photographs made over the past twelve years. The work highlights Adama's keen eye for character, atmosphere and the significance of everyday moments.  I particularly enjoyed the portrait I've chosen as the main image for this post - it has a fun "flaw", you might have to go see the large print in the exhibition to see it.

Adama Jalloh: Process (2014 – ongoing) is a RPS touring exhibition, find out more here: https://rps.org/exhibitions/
