Conference Advert 01

Why on earth would I go to the conference?

Don't worry, you don't need to be an expert to attend the RPS Landscape Group event

Just a couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of cycling from Holyhead to Chester with an old friend who also happens to be a member of the RPS Landscape Group. During our three-day ride, I asked him whether he was thinking of coming to our conference next March. His response really surprised me.

My friend, who is working towards his LRPS, said that he wasn’t thinking of coming because it would be "too advanced" for him and that he "didn’t have anything to contribute".

I immediately realised that the word "conference" can mean different things to different people!

Our conference, which will be held next March on the shores of the Firth of Forth, will not be anything like a political party conference where members debate and argue over policy.  Nor will it be like a gathering of scientific minds where leading academics share the latest research and theories.

Quite the opposite!

Our conference will be an enjoyable and educational event for landscape photographers of all levels. Unlike policy or academic conferences, this gathering is all about indulging your love for photography over a relaxed and enjoyable weekend. Whether you're an experienced professional or just starting out, this event is designed to inspire, educate, and connect photographers in a beautiful location.

The weekend will feature talks by professional photographers who will share their insights and experiences in landscape photography. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn from some leading exponents of our craft. Through their talks they will not only share their remarkable images but also their know-how, thus helping us to learn from them and improve or develop our own work.

To complement the talks, we’ve organised both location shoots and practical workshops. Local members will lead visits to a number of local highlights, taking you to some of the best places to photograph local scenery.  And to contribute to your photographic learning, there will be a number of practical how-to workshops on different topics.

So, please don’t be put off by the word "conference"! You don’t need to be an expert to attend, and you don’t need to have opinions about developments in the world of photography. You just need to immerse yourself in a whole weekend of fabulous images, fascinating talks, delicious food, luxury accommodation and fabulous scenery.

Could that be for you?
