A group of 10 members including 2 Leaders had the opportunity to visit RSPB Snettisham reserve last Thursday to witness the Wader Spectacular at twilight. Many thanks to Nick Bowman for organising and leading this event. He writes
"We had time on our hands to photograph the Old Jetty that was built to enable the loading of shingle onto boats that was sourced from the reserve. The shingle was used to help build runways for heavy bombers during WW2.
It was a lovely warm evening and we took the opportunity to walk along the beach front to look across the mudflats and see the waders starting to congregate.
A few minutes later we were in position to begin photographing the waders whilst looking out to sea with various backdrops including a wind farm and container boat. Finally, we were fortunate to be able to get some images with a sunset as a backdrop, and then just as we thought it was all over the waders flew over our heads putting on a great show.
An enjoyable evening was had by all." Text and Images by Nick Bowman
