Considering the weather we had a very good day. Four members of the Nature group started the day at 8am. First stop was Island Mere Hide, then onto Bittern Hide and after lunch West Hide. Whilst it was mainly cloudy, we did get patches of sun - and rain! We finished the day around 3pm.

We had numerous sightings, the highlights being a bittern fly past, close sedge warbler, a swan family with some very sweet cygnets, lots of marsh harrier sightings, a heron fishing and successfully catching the fish, lapwings, oystercatchers, and on our way to West Hide we were delighted to see a pregnant red deer just off the path and very close to us.

Moving around the hides was ideal as each location gave a different view and different species to capture. The site was busy with other visitors, but not so it was difficult to be where you wanted to position yourself in the hides.

We are planning to go again in the Autumn once the clocks go back to start the day at sunrise. All welcome and details will be posted on the RPSNature website when available
