The RPS Women in Photography group is proud to share the latest update on The 40% Project, an inspiring initiative celebrating the growing representation of women in UK Parliament.
Following last year’s General Election, a record-breaking 40% of MPs are now women—a testament to the strength, resilience, and determination of those who have fought for their place at the table. This project seeks to honor their achievements and highlight the evolving landscape of British politics through the power of photography.
Capturing the Faces of Female Leadership
The 40% Project aims to celebrate and document the impact of female MPs by capturing their portraits—showcasing their strength, grace, and leadership. We are calling on passionate photographers, especially women, to contribute to this meaningful initiative. If you're eager to help tell these important stories through your lens, we’d love for you to be part of this project.
Progress Update
Momentum is building. Today, 115 female MPs have been successfully paired with photographers, with an overwhelmingly positive response from both MPs and RPS members. The portraits submitted so far are powerful, capturing the individuality and resilience of the women shaping our government.

To meet our ambitious goal of photographing all 263 female MPs, we are expanding participation beyond Women in Photography (WIP) members—now, RPS members are invited to contribute to this historic project.
