Japanese gymnast Daiki Hashimoto will be defending his Olympic all-round champion title at the Paris Olympics in July 2024.
But he is already a winner in another international competition – the World Sports Photography Awards. An image of a 22-year-old Hashimoto at the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, Antwerp, Belgium, has been named Overall Winner in the awards.
Captured by Belgian photographer Eric T’Kindt, the image was among 24 finalists across categories including cycling, football, athletics and swimming and diving. Some 1,400 professional sports photographers from over 80 countries submitted more than 9,000 images to the fifth edition of the competition.
