Why do an LRPS?
After six years in events photography and completing an OU/RPS photography course funded by my medical school, I decided to challenge myself with a Licentiate application. It was an iterative process – my first submission was unsuccessful, but it proved to be an important learning opportunity. I spent a year studying the criteria and redesigning my portfolio to demonstrate a variety of technical, artistic and communication techniques. The guidance from Advisory Study Groups and the Advisory Day was immensely constructive and changed the way I evaluate my own images, especially regarding clarity of intent. The final images were created with an emphasis on light and balanced symmetrically by their dominant colours. Being awarded the distinction feels deeply fulfilling and represents a meaningful milestone in my professional growth. It motivates me to keep learning and improving my craft more than ever.
