Martin Poulson LRPS

Why decide to do a Distinction?

I had 'ummed and arred' about applying for the LRPS for a couple of years or so, perhaps having been scarred by the feedback experienced from camera club judges! However I felt that my meandering photography journey needed a checkpoint and the LRPS provided the structure for me to take stock. So with some trepidation I participated in an on-line group advisory and received encouraging feedback which I reflected on before having a one-to-one advisory session. This was really useful, and the advisor had clearly put in the time ahead of the session to review my images and proposed presentation layout, and gave me the guidance - some minor tweaks that made such an impact - to shape my final submission.
I am the sort of person who needs a purpose to do something, and having been awarded to the LRPS - which for me represented a sort of retrospective of my work - the prospect of thinking about a project with the aim of applying for the ARPS excites me. The working title is 'From Grain to Glass: A Taster of Brewing in East Anglia". Cheers to that!
