Drawing inspiration from some of the most important and ground breaking photographers, you will learn a variety of camera techniques and approaches that will bring the most out of your portraiture.
We will analyse the work of Martin Parr, Robert Frank, Vivian Maier, Steve McCurry and many others to explore in detail the dynamic between photographer and sitter.
Part of the course will require you to take photographs, if you are self-isolating on your own or don’t have anyone willing to be photographed, we understand that this might be tricky. In this instance Nigel is happy to give you feedback at a later date so this won’t effect your enjoyment and learning during the course. For those of you with a willing participant, you will be emailing your images taken during the day to Nigel who will be critiquing them and giving helpful suggestions – please don’t be worried by this, it’s done in a friendly supportive manner.
