Burley-in-Wharfedale Methodist Church has played a significant part in my life. I was married there. My daughter was baptised there. My Mother’s funeral was held there. This sense of connection inspired me to capture images that reflect the life of this church.
Many churches have closed their doors for the last time, whilst others struggle to survive. Burley members are committed to serving their community and endeavour to keep services and events relevant to its needs.
The aim of these images is to reflect church life. The church is there for ‘big event’ moments but I also wanted to capture various ways in which the minister and congregation put their faith into practice, not just on Sundays. It is both the people and the events that take place here, that make Burley-in-Wharfedale Methodist Church, a living, breathing, place of worship, service and welcome.
