This short course is for beginners to intermediate level photographers. The course will develop your technical and visual skills as you learn the principles of digital photography and image editing. The course will also provide a foundation for those intending to undertake the RPS Licentiate Distinction (LRPS) qualification.

Duration: 10 weeks, 10 hours per week

This microcredential is for competent photographers who want to take their skills to the next level. The course will allow you to explore the theory and practicalities of digital imaging as well as a series of practical assignments designed to develop your technical and artistic skills.

Experiment in applying a range of photographic techniques to a specialist photographic genre - from nature and portraiture to architecture and fine art, and step outside your photographic comfort zone.

The course will support you in progressing toward professional level photography. If you wish to continue your studies, the creation of a professional portfolio that explores an explicit photographic intent is a requirement for a number of qualifications, including the RPS Associateship Distinction (ARPS).

Upon enrollment you will be able to become a member of the Royal Photographic Society at the student rate of £55 (standard rate: £120, saving £65).  To qualify for the discounted membership, you can contact us upon enrollment or within the 10 week duration of your chosen course. To sign up, visit rps.org/membership as a Student Member and provide your OU enrollment details.
