Known as a friendly Region, the North West includes the Isle of Man.
We have over 700 members and host a wide variety of events, including field trips twice a year, portrait days and presentations by renowned photographers. We have an active Monochrome Group which has been running successfully for many years, with events which are always informative and well-attended.
With Society Distinctions very much in demand, we aim to host two Distinctions Advisory Days per year.
In April 2019, we formed a new committee and are actively working to provide new events to engage with North West members and Special Interest Groups. We aim to improve our communication regarding activities and will be sending emails to all members regarding future events on a regular basis.
This is your region and the North West Committee is here to serve you.

I took up photography as a three year old in the 1970's, after being given a camera. Subsequently, I attended evening classes where I was taught not only how to take photographs, but to develop and print my own work. I was then hooked on photography.
After gaining distinctions in all seven of my City and Guild modules, I achieved LRPS in 1989 and ARPS in 1994. In 1997, I achieved FRPS and FMPA.
I have been the organiser for the NW Monochrome Group for over ten years, arranging numerous events and presntations.
Brian Smethurst ARPS
Committee Member
Involvement in photography began in the 60's with a Kodak Brownie and a bedroom darkroom. My interest continued to develop until it was interrupted by the needs of family life and my work as a chartered civil engineer taking me overseas for several years.
My passion was rekindled on my return to the UK, culminating in the award of LRPS in 2009 and ARPS in 2013.
I will photograph just about anything which captures my imagination, but particularly enjoy travel photography.
We welcome comments and suggestions regarding any matter related to our region and in particular feedback on events and suggestions for future activities.
