Born in Teesside in 1949, Ian Macdonald has over 50 years of experience photographing Redcar and Cleveland. He has covered some of the major milestones in this area’s history, including the closure of the steelworks and the decline of heavy industry.

This exhibition was commissioned by Kirkleathen Museum to record the regeneration of Redcar’s seafront in 2014, and contains images taken over the year whilst Ian was the council’s artist-in-residence. It takes place at Kirkleatham Museum, opening hours Tuesday- Sunday, 10.00am - 4.30pm

The Goth Weekends in Whitby are over the weekend of 1 - 3 May and 30 October – 1 November 2026.

You can expect these weekends to be busy, so get there early so you can park more easily. As well as plenty of willing models there are Bazaars and Markets as well as live music.
