RPS Scotland Photoforums
Show and Support

Photoforums are events where members are encouraged to bring along a selection of images which they will be briefly invited to talk about. Everyone will get the opportunity to view the images close up and then participate in a discussion about the work. At these events we will endeavour to have current and/or past distinctions panel members in attendance to offer comments on any work which the member may be considering as the basis for a distinction.

Share and Support events are run along similar lines but will not necessarily have panel members attending and, where this is the case, discussions will be based around the personal expertise of those attending. Should there be panel members who are willing to attend on a voluntary basis then they will be able to offer appropriate comments and guidance.

Our on-line Talks

Throughout the year, RPS Scotland holds informal Guest talks with a wide variety of speakers from around the world.

With photography being the main aspect, these talks give an insight into the many varied aspects of this art form.

Details of the talks will be published as they become available = keep visiting the site for updates.

Practical and In-Person Events

Here you will find details about photographic workshops, outings and live speaker events organised by RPS Scotland.

Workshops will provide the opportunity to do some photography with guidance and advice from a recognised practitioner. Whether your interest is landscape, nature, street  or any other genre, we aim to provide a variety of events which will be available to all RPS Scotland members.

Whilst recognising that on-line talks enable us to reach a wide audience, there is nothing that compares to sitting in a hall and seeing and hearing a live presentation from a professional photographer. Although we are limited by the geographic spread of members, we will endeavour to present a series of in-person talks covering a variety of subjects, where members can meet the speaker and engage in a discussion without the constraints of an on-line forum.

Advice Towards Your Distinction

Advisory Days provide formal feedback from current panel members on a prospective submission for the award of a Distinction. They are often seen as the final step in developing a panel of work and provide feedback on all relevant characteristics appropriate to the level of distinction and genre, where applicable.

These events provide an excellent opportunity for members who are at an earlier stage of progress towards a distinction to see other work and gain an insight into the standards that are required for a panel to be successful.
